My daughter really only likes the food I make her but this line of pureed foods, she LOVES. Which says A LOT about the quality of these baby foods. They are as close to my pureed foods as it's going to get, in my opinion.

They're easy and tasty, no problem. You must know the price beforehand. Amazon is wonderful for everything, but sometimes the pricing is off. Wally World price is $2 apiece ( often $1.78 ), and that is for ANY Graduates meal. Do the math for twelve. You cannot beat having it delivered to your door, though. No tax and free shipping can seal the deal.

Plum Organics Training Meals Baby Food - Pasta with Chicken & Vegetables - 4 oz pouch Review

I usually buy the plum organics pouch foods as I love the organic and simple ingredients. I bought this one day expecting the same only to read the label when I got home to find that it contains Citric Acid. This is bad for children's teeth and ultimately digestive system so if you feed this to your baby daily you might want to reduce.

We discovered Earth's Best when my oldest started solids years ago. They had a more limited selection then, but offered more variety than the "regular" brands. For him, we only bought a few jars each trip, those flavors that we couldn't get in another brand. For our second child, we added a few more. With the 3rd baby, we started out on the larger brands, but he wouldn't eat them. Who can blame him!? They're runny and lacking any flavor. Not to mention, no matter how good sweet potatoes are, how many jars can you eat? He gobbles up every jar of Earth's Best without any problems. When we introduce a new flavor, he's all for it.
I agree with other posts that some of the flavors are very runny. We just add a few tsp. of cereal and problem solved.
Earth's Best is more expensive. I calculated that every 2 weeks of food costs me $15 more than buying the other brands. However, we decided that since he eats it all (vs. being very picky with other brands) it's a wash.
If you want to use Earth's Best for your baby w/out breaking the bank, try these tips:
*Visit Earth's Best's website and print off all the coupons they'll allow (usually 3), have family and friends do the same
*Buy at Whole Foods. They have good prices and when you buy a lot, they give you a bulk discount
*You can also buy them by the case at Meijers for less than $10.00, cheaper than here!

Plum Organics Training Meals, Multigrain Super Greens, 4-Ounce Pouches (Pack of 12) Review

Plum Organics Training Meals, Multigrain Super Greens, 4-Ounce Pouches (Pack of 12)

We've had better luck with Plum Organics training meals over the Happy Baby meals. Our 1 year old girl absolutely loves the multigrain super greens and she shrieks with impatience until we give her the next bite. No heating necessary. I feel so good that she's getting extra greens and fiber, to balance out the other baby and adult food she snacks on. It's also really easy to take to go, we just bring along an extra baby spoon or disposable plastic spoon. It may just be personal preference... I wouldn't take a bite myself just because I really hate eating greens myself, but you gotta do good by your baby, right?

Gerber Graduates Lil' Entrees Pasta Stars in Meat Sauce - 12 Pack Review

Gerber Graduates Lil' Entrees Pasta Stars in Meat Sauce - 12 Pack
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Our son (one year old) now eats solid foods. What should we give him? Well, the doctor says he can have anything we eat, as long as he can handle it. OK. When we eat, he eats some of our stuff. He loves going to the neighborhood frozen yogurt shop, that's for sure. He enjoys refried beans in many Mexican places. He loved my split-pea soup with ham. Apple sauce is one of his favorite foods. When we go to the In 'n' Out Burger, he loves the french fries and parts of the burger, and I hesitate even to mention the chocolate shakes. Yum!
In addition, my wife has picked up a variety of more traditional baby foods and many of those have been made by Gerber under the Graduates heading. This afternoon, he dined on one of the Graduates lil' entrees, specifically the Pasta Stars in Meat Sauce. This particular dining experience was an almost total failure. He ingested a couple spoons of the pasta sauce and then refused to eat any more. I gave him a few if the green beans. He took them in, a negative experience was recorded on his face and they came right back out. Hmmmmm. I wondered what the problem was. So, I took a spoon and ate the pasta sauce. It was bland and way overcooked but it didn't taste all that bad. I also ate the beans. They were severely overcooked. Both parts of the entree were cooked to the point where they resembled some type of mush. Well, after dining on french fries and hamburgers, no wonder he winces at these entrees. He needn't worry any more. He won't be getting any further Gerber's lil' entrees. My wife also noted that they were packaged in a #7 plastic container and she said she'd serve them no longer. Not all is bad about the Graduates items, however, our son loves the Crunchies and Wagon wheels.

The Petit Appetit Cookbook: Easy, Organic Recipes to Nurture Your Baby and Toddler Review

The Petit Appetit Cookbook: Easy, Organic Recipes to Nurture Your Baby and Toddler
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this book along with Baby Blender Food, and I really like this one the best. It has practical information RE: safe food handling, the meaning behind nutritional and organic terms on product packaging, suggestions for stocking your pantry, and ideas about how to incorporate meals for the family from the recipes for the baby. It's not rocket science, but sometimes I get caught up in the baby food process and don't think about how to modify some of the ingredients for my own meal. She also has a helpful key that lists vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free recipe options. The recipes are pretty simple, and I've found that it's easy and fun to make food for my son. It also feels really good to know exactly what's going into his food. I like the layout of the book, and I appreciate the information in it. Another review mentioned that she doesn't outline food hazards like nitrates in the body of the recipes, but if you read the book from the beginning, she has pretty comprehensive explanations of what is safe to prepare and when it's safe to prepare it.

I think that with most of these baby foods it is simply a matter of taste and preference. My son, now just 1, has been eating this for the past 3 months and loves it. The ingredients are healthy and organic. Regarding the issue with the bay leaf, to me that's no different then when I'm eating Italian food someplace, come across a bay leaf, and remove it. No infant is going to be eating this food on her/his own, so as the parent I would just remove the leaf. Problem solved!

My 9-month-old son is what you might call an enthusiastic eater. He's sampled a variety of foods, loves most everything (including unexpected favorites like broccoli and prunes), and almost always, to quote one of our favorite bedtime stories, "eats all before him with smiles and goodwill." But these Training Meals from Plum Organics are a notable exception. We tried three different varieties (Pasta with Chicken and Vegetables, Harvest Vegetable with Turkey, and Multigrain Super Greens), and so far, we're zero for three. My son's most favorable reaction was to the Multigrain Super Greens, which he ate, but begrudgingly so, with wrinkled nose and other negative facial expressions. The other two, well... He alternated between pulling faces, emphatically pushing away the spoon, spitting the food out and, on at least one occasion, actually gagging. I'm disappointed. We've loved this brand's fruit and vegetable purées since my son started eating solids, but he's old enough now that he needs to be eating more proteins and more textured foods, and I really thought these would fit the bill. I really wanted to like them, too, as I still haven't found many quick, delicious, organic/wholesome and BPA-free ways to incorporate chicken, turkey and nutrient-rich green vegetables into my son's diet. Unfortunately, it seems these pouches are not the way to go. Guess it's back to the drawing board for Plum Organics, and back to homemade baby food for us.

Blender Baby Food: Over 125 Recipes for Healthy Homemade Meals Review

Blender Baby Food: Over 125 Recipes for Healthy Homemade Meals
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I didn't get this book till my baby was over 10 months old, so I'm not sure what I'm about to say will apply to younger babies just starting on solids.
I love this book! My baby had been eating table food for a while, but she was stuck in a bit of a rut with pretty much the same foods over and over, in about a 5-day cycle: chicken stew, mac-n-cheese, rice and gravy, spaghetti with meat sauce, etc., with whatever boring steamed veggies on the side.
I live in South Louisiana, where we have delicious, flavorful, spicy cuisine. However, 1) it often contains ingredients she shouldn't have yet, such as shrimp, and 2) I'm afraid it might be too spicy for her! I didn't know how to provide the blandness of what baby can tolerate, while not deadening her taste buds to new flavors as she grows up (or making her into a picky eater).
This book really kicked up both the main and side dishes for her. The dishes are bland enough for young-uns to tolerate, but flavorful enough to excite their taste buds and explore new flavors. Also, they are probably more nutritious than what we'd been feeding her.
The book has several sections: a 6-month-and-up, a 7-month-and-up, an 8-month-and-up, a 9-and-up, and a 12-and-up chapter. There are brief blurbs about what to introduce at each stage, and each section has a grid showing a sample meal plan. It's not extremely thorough, but it is helpful and provides a simple guideline.
Here are some sample recipes:
6 months and up:
--mostly plain fruits and veggies, with good tips on how to prepare them
7 months and up:
--green rice (rice with fresh greens--very nice!)
--squash and pepper risotto
--vegetable paella
8 months and up:
--avocado chicken
--chicken with pumpkin
--chicken divine
9 months and up:
--fruity breakfast rice (yum!)
--broccoli and cauliflower gratin
12 months and up:
--fruity frosty shake
--nutty choco monkey
--nutty waffles
All the recipes are quite easy to make, believe me. And so delicious! The recipes recommend good ingredients, too, such as brown rice, lots of fruit and veggies, and low-sodium stock. Most of the ingredients are relatively easy to find at the grocery store, and easily substituted if you're on a budget.
The baby really likes the broccoli/cauliflower gratin, the spinach and tomatoes with ricotta, and the chicken tropical (chicken with mangoes). This book really gets baby interested in fruits and veggies, with its interesting, flavorful preparations.
Obviously, I cannot speak for parents of babies with severe food allergies. I also cannot speak for the younger babies, since I waited so long to get this book. All I can tell you is, a) delicious, b) easy to prepare, c) my baby loves the recipes.

Mealtime Solutions for Your Baby, Toddler and Preschooler: The Ultimate No-Worry Approach for Each Age and Stage (Mother of All Solutions) Review

Mealtime Solutions for Your Baby, Toddler and Preschooler: The Ultimate No-Worry Approach for Each Age and Stage (Mother of All Solutions)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As a new Mom of a baby approaching the "solid foods" age, I found this book to be very useful. Specifically, I really liked the concise approaches in the book (generally in table format) in the areas of 1) what foods to introduce and suggested general orders, 2) what foods to avoid until given points in time (egg whites, honey, etc..) and 3) how to change textures and introduce new foods as you approach an older baby/toddler.
I liked the fact that the approach was "open" in that I don't need to follow as rigid a timeline or schedule as I may have found from other sources. The tips and quotes from other Mom's also made the book unique - afterall, I consider other Mom's to be experts at this point!
As a new Mom, I don't have alot of time to read - so I found this easy to read and quick/concise....easier than pulling the information out of multiple other sources. The other great part is where the author gives links to various sources for further info such as baby recipes etc... I also look forward to utilizing the baby food calendar that the author supports through her website.
I would definately recommend this book to other new Moms that are trying to figure out the "solid food" thing!
